My Zire 31 battery life last a max of 5 hours.....how about yours? Is mine defective of it`s normal to have the Zire 31 battery run flat after such short hours. All i do is listen to MP3 with the screen off and in max of 5 hours...the battery is flat.

For me, it`s worth it. There`s nothing like full-featured software to control your audio player. QUOTE]
When you say that....is there a certain program that you would like to introduce? I`m currently just using the standard RealPlayer. Don`t seem much to me. Apart from Pocket Tunes....are there others?

    Oh, yes, of course! ...
There`s http://tcpmp.corecodec.org/about (free), which isn`t much for UI, but it has some nice features and the functionality is very logical. You can also try http://mytreo.net/downloads/details-703.html?DioPlayer (also free), which is no longer developed or supported. It has a graphic equalizer, but it`s buggy at some times.
Pocket Tunes, as you mentioned, is very good. There`s also http://www.aerodrome.us/.
The point I was making with this is that you have so many possibilities. Anyone can build any program to work with the standard audio playback hardware included in the Palm, because Palm OS gives developers the flexibility and options to do so. With a stand-alone player, you`re stuck with whatever the manufacturer gives you for software.

You serious!!! Man, that is bad cos then i have to charge it everyday. I remember using the Palm Vx and it last for 2 weeks easily.....guess the Zire 31 has colour and brighter screen to worry about that kill the battery

For me, it`s worth it. There`s nothing like full-featured software to control your audio player. It`s so much better than a stand-alone portable audio player software features and a UI that are weak and crippled. That, and I only use the audio playing features every few weeks, so it`s a perfect balance for me.
I had a Zire M150 that did that as well.
That`ll do it yes. Audio playing also consumes the batteries at a considerable rate.

That sounds pretty normal to me -- it`s about what I get too.

is the zire 31 capable to play longer movie clips or short video clips, if so does it look half decent ?

  1.

i hate mine everytime i turn it on it just shuts off and i`ve charged for 11 hours.

  2.

Thanks for the TCPMP and DioPlayer recommendations. Cool, I can now play video clips with TCPMP.
